Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the Plateworth platform by sellers, dealers, and visitors.
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Using the Marketplace
Plateworth provides software, marketplace infrastructure, valuation tools, dealer discovery services, offer comparison functionality, and transaction coordination services for private vehicle registrations.
By using the platform, you agree to:
- Provide complete, accurate, and up-to-date information;
- Use the platform lawfully and in good faith;
- Comply with these Terms and any instructions provided through the platform; and
- Cooperate with reasonable verification, compliance, and transfer requirements.
Plateworth reserves the right to refuse access, suspend accounts, remove plates, or restrict functionality where it reasonably believes these Terms have been breached or where doing so is necessary to protect the marketplace, its users, or its reputation.
Seller Responsibilities
Sellers are solely responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to list, sell, transfer, or otherwise deal with any registration submitted to the platform.
By submitting a registration, the seller represents and warrants that:
- They are the lawful owner of the registration;
- All information provided is accurate and not misleading;
- The registration is capable of being transferred under applicable DVLA requirements;
- They will promptly provide any information or documentation reasonably requested to verify ownership and facilitate completion;
- They will cooperate in a timely manner with our network partner to facilitate the sale, transfer, and transaction of their number plate.
Sellers must not:
- Submit false, misleading, or incomplete information;
- Sell registrations they are not authorised to sell;
- Interfere with, circumvent, or undermine the marketplace process; or
- Attempt to complete transactions outside the platform where doing so would avoid applicable marketplace fees.
Dealer Participation
Access to the Plateworth dealer network is restricted to approved participants.
Dealers may be required to undergo identity, business, reputation, compliance, financial, or trading history checks before being granted access to the platform.
Dealers are expected to:
- Submit genuine offers made in good faith;
- Honour accepted offers;
- Respond promptly to reasonable requests; and
- Complete transactions within agreed timescales.
Plateworth may suspend, restrict, or terminate dealer access at any time where it reasonably believes a dealer's conduct risks harm to sellers, the marketplace, or other participants.
Offers, Acceptance, and Binding Agreements
Offers displayed through the platform are invitations to enter into a transaction and may be withdrawn, amended, or expire prior to acceptance.
A legally binding agreement is formed when a seller accepts an offer through the Plateworth platform, or accepts an auction estimate.
Upon acceptance:
- The seller agrees to sell the registration at the accepted price;
- The buyer agrees to purchase the registration at the accepted price and Plateworth's commission;
- Neither party may withdraw from the transaction except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law; and
- The seller may not accept competing offers or otherwise seek to dispose of the registration to another party.
Where a seller accepts an offer, the seller acknowledges that the acceptance is final and legally binding.
Any right of cancellation, withdrawal, or termination shall be limited to circumstances involving fraud, material misrepresentation, inability to verify ownership, legal restrictions on transfer, failure to satisfy stated conditions of the offer, or other circumstances expressly permitted by applicable law.
Plateworth is not a party to the contract formed between the buyer and seller and acts solely as a marketplace operator and transaction facilitator.
Verification and Completion
All transactions remain subject to reasonable verification, compliance, identity, ownership, anti-fraud, and transfer requirements.
Where information provided by a seller is inaccurate, misleading, incomplete, or incapable of verification, a buyer may withdraw from the transaction without liability.
Plateworth may suspend or cancel transactions where it reasonably suspects fraud, unlawful activity, regulatory concerns, or risks to marketplace integrity.
Fees and Charges
Any fees, commissions, charges, or deductions displayed through the platform form part of the transaction and are deemed accepted when a buyer places a bid.
Unless otherwise stated, all fees are non-refundable once the relevant service has been provided.
Plateworth reserves the right to recover unpaid fees, costs, or charges arising from breaches of these Terms.
Acceptable Use
Users must not:
- Access the platform without authorisation;
- Attempt to scrape, copy, extract, or harvest marketplace data;
- Upload malicious software or code;
- Misrepresent their identity;
- Submit fraudulent listings or offers;
- Interfere with platform operations; or
- Engage in abusive, unlawful, deceptive, or harmful conduct.
Plateworth may investigate suspected breaches and cooperate with law enforcement, regulators, or other authorities where appropriate.
Intellectual Property
All platform content, software, branding, workflows, data structures, designs, and associated intellectual property rights belong to Plateworth or its licensors.
No rights are granted except as necessary to use the platform in accordance with these Terms.
Service Availability
Plateworth does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, specific response times, transaction volumes, valuations, dealer participation levels, or successful transaction outcomes.
Features may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Plateworth excludes all implied warranties, representations, and conditions;
- Plateworth is not responsible for the conduct, actions, omissions, or defaults of buyers, sellers, dealers, or other third parties;
- Plateworth is not liable for lost profits, loss of opportunity, loss of business, loss of goodwill, indirect losses, consequential losses, or special damages; and
- Plateworth's total aggregate liability arising from or connected with the platform shall not exceed the greater of £100 or the fees paid by the network partner to Plateworth during the preceding 12 months.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plateworth, its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates against any claims, losses, liabilities, costs, expenses, damages, or legal fees arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms;
- Your misuse of the platform;
- Any inaccurate information provided by you; or
- Any dispute between buyers and sellers.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the use of the platform.
